Win and DoorDash Launch Partnership to Combat Child Hunger Across New York City
Hundreds of Families in Need to Receive a Total Grant of $30,000 for Immediate Food Assistance
New York, NY – Today, Win, the largest provider of family shelter and supportive housing in New York City, and DoorDash launched a new partnership to tackle child hunger, with DoorDash providing $30,000 through its Community Credits program to support families in shelters and those transitioning into stable housing.
DoorDash’s Community Credits program provides gift cards to be used by organizations to help them provide meals and other essentials in their communities. Through this partnership, Win program managers will distribute gift cards to families, aiming to provide immediate relief to women and children experiencing food insecurity. This partnership will supplement the resources of families in need across New York City, where 1 in 4 children lack enough food for a healthy life.
“No one should have to go hungry or worry where their next meal is coming from in one of the most affluent cities in the world,” said Chris Quinn, President & CEO of Win. “That’s why we’ve partnered with DoorDash to reach more New Yorkers in need and ensure families experiencing food insecurity can put meals on the table. In order to combat food insecurity, we need to meet New Yorkers where they are – this new program achieves that by providing direct access to resources and essentials for families who need it the most.”
“This partnership with Win underscores DoorDash’s commitment to tackling food insecurity and helping these families who need support. We are fighting food insecurity with concrete steps that ensure food reaches those in need, while scaling our impact to support more families through collaborations like this one,” said Kassandra Perez-Desir, New York and Puerto Rico Government Relations Lead for DoorDash. “We’re proud to be working alongside Win, a trusted organization with years of experience supporting New York City women and children, especially those in communities that face disproportionate challenges in accessing quality food.”
Families benefiting from this partnership can also maximize their food resources by using SNAP benefits on the DoorDash platform. Over 1.1 million people have added their SNAP/EBT cards to be used on the DoorDash platform, enhancing access to affordable meals and helping families meet childcare and work obligations.
