“WE ARE NY HORSE RACING” LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN VIDEO
We Are NY Horse Racing continues to educate New Yorkers about the importance of the sport and industry to the State’s economy
We Are NY Horse Racing has grown to include nearly 50 members
New York, NY – We Are NY Horse Racing, a coalition comprised of small businesses, unions, non-profits, and trade organizations, recently launched a campaign video highlighting the economic impact of the sport. The video can be viewed here. The sport of horse racing generates $3 billion in annual economic impact and 19,000 jobs across New York State.
The coalition is proud to launch this video on behalf of its members and the thousands of hardworking New Yorkers who are employed by the industry. The coalition has grown to nearly 50 members since its inception in the Fall of 2021, welcoming organizations such as the Greater Ridgewood Youth Council, Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Bond Racing Stable, National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, among others.
The horse racing economy includes farmers, trainers, horse breeders, horse owners, racetrack employees, dozens of labor unions that support racing operations, backstretch workers, veterinarians, and racing officials as well as seasonal and part-time jobs directly tied to big events such as the Belmont Stakes or the annual summer meet at historic Saratoga Race Course.
As a driver of tourism both downstate and throughout upstate New York, horse racing is a big business for the tourism and hospitality sector of the state’s economy.

“Now more than ever, it’s critical that our State continues to support the sport of horse racing,” stated Vincent Albanese, Director of Policy and Public Affairs at the New York State Laborers’ Organizing Fund. “Horse racing not only generates billions in annual economic impact, but the industry puts our union brothers and sisters to work on tracks across the state. We’re thrilled to be a part of the We Are NY Horse Racing Coalition and inform New Yorkers about the important work the coalition is doing through this launch video.”
