WE ARE NY HORSE RACING DEPLOYS TELEVISION AD ON CABLE TV, ALONG WITH DIGITAL PLATFORMS, TO EDUCATE NEW YORKERS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SPORT AND INDUSTRY
New York, NY – We Are NY Horse Racing recently unveiled its first television advertisement, which is now airing on cable television and digital platforms. Channeling the central goal of We Are NY Horse Racing, the ad highlights the importance of horse racing to the New York State economy.
We Are NY Horse Racing is a diverse group of small businesses, labor unions, non-profits, trade organizations, and community groups working to advocate on behalf of the 19,000 women and men who are working in and around the sport Since its initial launch in September, We Are NY Horse Racing has rapidly grown to now include nearly 50 member organizations.
“Horse racing generates billions in annual economic impact and the sport is directly responsible for good-paying jobs to our union members across the state,” said Vincent Albanese, Director of Policy and Public Affairs at the New York State Laborers’ Organizing Fund. “We’re thrilled to be a part of the We Are NY Horse Racing coalition and see the coalition take action to communicate the importance of horse racing to the New York economy.”
The horse racing economy includes farmers, trainers, horse breeders, horse owners, racetrack employees, dozens of labor unions that support racing operations, backstretch workers, veterinarians, and racing officials as well as seasonal and part-time jobs directly tied to big events such as the Belmont Stakes or the annual summer meet at historic Saratoga Race Course.
“Horse racing is a sport that drives a far-reaching industry here in New York State,” said Jeff Williams, Public Policy Director of the New York Farm Bureau. “Horse racing creates jobs and economic opportunity throughout the state, and this ad speaks to that reality.”
