Securing the Future of Medicare Advantage with Senator Schumer’s Support

My wife and I have just retired and now, having to rely on a fixed income, we also need reliable and affordable health care. This is why we enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan.

When deciding on health coverage, Medicare Advantage stood out because of its affordability and extensive benefits including prescription drug delivery, transportation to and from medical appointments, and access to tele-health services. Our plan even covers preventive care services such as routine check-ups, screenings, and vaccines. While unexpected health problems can’t be predicted, Medicare Advantage helps us take proactive steps to maintain our well-being and address or even prevent potential complications.

More than 33 million seniors and people with disabilities choose this kind of program for the reasons above and for the low monthly premiums, and the caps on out-of-pocket expenses. Earlier this year, however, the Medicare program proposed new policies that could impact us and other current and future enrollees. The proposed changes could result in fewer benefits and higher out-of-pocket costs for a very large segment of our population.

We are fortunate that Senator Schumer has been a champion as he has stood up for Medicare Advantage and the more than 2 million New Yorkers who rely on it. His support for the program is vital to ensuring that benefits and premiums are kept stable. We are thankful to have an advocate like the Senator and urge him to continue his outstanding leadership. With his help, more seniors like us as well as people with disabilities, will be able to enjoy high-quality, affordable care.
