Scott Rechler Statement on NYC Mayoral Election
“I want to congratulate Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, and I am ready to work with him.
I love New York. It’s my home, it’s where I built my business, and I have never wavered in my belief in its future. While I don’t agree with many of the mayor-elect’s campaign proposals, I do agree that New York has an affordability challenge that must be addressed.
As Zohran Mamdani transitions from campaigning to governing, I encourage him to keep New York City the safest big city in the country, fight the age-old scourge of antisemitism and its disturbing rise on both the right and the left, support smart solutions to our affordability crisis, and ensure that our city remains the capital of capitalism.
But Zohran Mamdani and the government can’t do it alone. To make government work, it requires the public sector and the private sector working together to solve our biggest challenges. We will also need leadership from Governor Kathy Hochul and President Donald Trump to ensure that New York City forever remains the greatest city in the world.”
