RESORTS WORLD NEW YORK CITY TO DELIVER $2B IN NEW, RELIABLE FUNDING FOR NYS SCHOOLS WITH PROPOSED EXPANSION
Only Bidder with a Proven Track Record of Sending Nearly $5 Billion to New York State School System
Plans to Supercharge Support as the Sole Bid Able to Send Billions More in First Four Years as Commercial Casino
Queens, NY (November 6, 2025) – Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) today announced it expects to send $2 billion to the Empire State’s public education system in the first four years of operations as a commercial casino, if it is awarded a commercial casino license this December. The increased contributions to New York State schools will build on the nearly $5 billion that RWNYC has already delivered to education since opening its doors in 2011.
“Resorts World New York City is proud to stand as the only bidder that has supported public education in this state since 2011,” said Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East. “Those are more than figures but tangible differences in the lives of New York students and teachers. Our plan to expand into the largest integrated resort in the United States will take this support to an entirely new level, so we can do our part to inspire the leaders of tomorrow.”
RWNYC’s proposed integrated resort represents the only guarantee for more incremental revenue to flow directly into classrooms, supporting teachers, students, and school communities in the next four years. Thanks to RWNYC’s unparallel speed to market capabilities, the company can begin expanded operations as early as March 2026. That means RWNYC can send an estimated $405 million to the public education system next year, followed by $453 million in 2027 and $475 million in 2028. By the time RWNYC builds out the largest casino floor in the U.S. with 10,800 gaming positions, the company expects to send $696 million just to education in 2029.
RWNYC stands as the largest taxpayer in New York State. Since 2011, Resorts World New York City has sent nearly $5 billion to New York’s public schools, which is the equivalent of:
- Educating 142,793 students for a full year (based on the average cost per-pupil in NYS)
- Paying 47,063 teacher salaries for a full year (based on the statewide average);
- Covering the cost of 7.9 million students’ back-to-school essentials
- Supporting New York State funding for school meal programs for 13 years, fighting childhood hunger and supporting learning
- Fully funding NYC’s free laptop program 13 times over (based on the cost of 350,000 laptops)
RWNYC has demonstrated its commitment to education through concrete action. The company’s 56% tax rate on slots and 30% tax rate on table games ensures maximum revenue slows directly to New York’s educational programs. That will ensure the State maximizes the economic impact for public services, with Resorts World pledging to keep visitors and revenue in New York.
Indeed, RWNYC’s expanded support of education will stretch far beyond financial support. Its $7.5 billion proposal includes a world-class Resorts World Innovation Campus, which will include a STEAM Center as well as athletics facility developed by Queens native and NBA legend Kenny “The Jet” Smith. The STEAM Center – which will focus on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics – was a direct result of RWNYC’s engagement with local elected and community leaders.
As the Gaming Facility Location Board evaluates the final proposals, the choice is clear: Resorts World New York City is the only bidder that has already invested nearly $5
billion in New York’s children and stands ready to invest millions more. In an era of budgetary uncertainty, New York’s students, teachers, and families deserve a partner with a proven commitment to their success.
