By New York State AFL-CIO | January 13, 2021

Albany, NY – “Governor Cuomo detailed a bold and comprehensive plan to combat climate change by investing in our state’s green energy generation infrastructure, transmission capacity and the supply chain,” said Mario Cilento, president of the New York State AFL-CIO.

“Critically, the Governor’s call to require prevailing wage and project labor agreements will ensure that we create good jobs utilizing a highly skilled workforce in the process.

“We also commend his focus on workforce training in both manufacturing and public utilities, and call for a prioritization of retraining programs for displaced workers to ensure a just transition.

“New York State must seize on this opportunity to address climate change, reverse inequality, and invest in our workforce,” Cilento said.
