New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Announces New Round of State and Federal Candidate Endorsements Ahead of Key November Election
NEW YORK — New Yorkers Against Gun Violence has announced a new round of endorsements for candidates running for the State Senate, Assembly and Congress in the 2024 election cycle. The endorsed candidates represent four regions across the state: Long Island, New York City, the Hudson Valley and Upstate NY:
“The stakes of this election could not be higher,” says Rebecca Fischer, NYAGV Executive Director. “Incidents of gun violence are happening every day and New Yorkers need advocates in Albany and Washington who are willing to do whatever it takes to keep their communities safe.”
New Yorkers Against Gun Violence is committed to supporting and partnering with lawmakers who understand the complex causes of the gun violence crisis and who champion effective, trauma-informed solutions to ending the cycle of violence and shootings.
NYAGV’s endorsement process includes a questionnaire requesting the candidates’ position on various state and federal government legislation that addresses school safety and training protocols, funding of anti-gun groups, and monitoring of firearm transactions.
Besides the NY state and federal races, NYAGV has also endorsed VP Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for the presidency to ensure the fight against gun violence continues to have the support of the White House.
“We know that common-sense gun safety laws are overwhelmingly popular with voters, and we want them to know which candidates are looking out for their best interests,” says Fischer. “We encourage everyone who believes in our life-saving mission to support our endorsed candidates at the ballot box and join our growing movement.”
