New York Leaders to Join Ørsted at Port of Coeymans Tour Showcasing Major Progress on Construction of Sunrise Wind’s Foundation Components
Site tour to spotlight significant progress on New York’s largest offshore wind farm
WHAT: Ørsted will be joined by state and local leaders, union workers and local suppliers, environmental advocates and community supporters for a site tour at the Port of Coeymans to celebrate the significant progress on Sunrise Wind’s advanced foundation components and the key role that local union workers are playing in New York’s growing offshore wind supply chain.
More than 100 local union workers are building Sunrise Wind’s foundation components at the new Port of Coeymans assembly hub as part of Ørsted’s $86 million investment in this important work scope.
At 924 megawatts, Sunrise Wind will generate enough clean energy to power approximately 600,000 New York homes and businesses. The project supports New York’s 70 percent renewable electricity by 2030 goal, while accelerating the state’s growing offshore wind workforce and supply chain. Sunrise Wind is creating 800 direct New York jobs, thousands of indirect jobs, and spurring economic benefits across the state.
