NEW VIDEOS: Hochul, Adams Know “New York is Built By People Who Show Up”

By Kathy Hochul Press | February 5, 2026

Today, as the New York State Democratic Party kicks off its convention, the Hochul campaign released two new videos – ”Leading the Moment” and “Show Up” – telling the stories of Governor Kathy Hochul, former New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, and their fight for New York families.

The videos will play on the mainstage at today’s convention.

Watch the campaign’s new videos below:

From “Show Up:

  • “Adrienne Adams. Her parents both worked union jobs, and raised her in a community where neighbors were family and responsibility didn’t stop at your front door. Her career didn’t start in politics. She cut her teeth and climbed the ladder in corporate America until it hit her: purpose isn’t always found in titles. It’s found in service.”

From “Leading the Moment:

  • “Now across the Empire State, from the subways to the suburbs, crime is down. She’s pushing back hard against ICE, holding them accountable when they go too far, which they have. And at a time when so many others are choosing silence over courage and backing down, Kathy Hochul is standing up to Donald Trump. “

Watch both videos, debuting at today’s convention, below:

Leading the Moment

Show Up

“Leading the Moment”:

NARRATOR: You know she’s a fighter.

HOCHUL: These times call for fighting fire with fire. We’re New Yorkers. We fight back.

NARRATOR: You know she’s tough.

HOCHUL: You want to know what I really think? It’s bullshit.

NARRATOR: And you know, she’s willing to stand up to anyone, anywhere, on behalf of New Yorkers.

HOCHUL: If Tom Homan comes to Albany to arrest me, I’ll say, ‘Go for it. You can’t intimidate a governor.’

NARRATOR: But there’s more to the story, and it starts where else but in Buffalo. Her grandparents crossed an ocean to get there. Grandma worked on a bomber assembly line. Grandfather poured molten steel – Buffalo steel – that would become America’s backbone.

And her parents started their lives together in this Lackawanna trailer park. Kathy Hochul grew up in a small upstairs flat with seven other people, sharing an unheated attic with her younger brothers. She watched her father work the steel mills by day and go to college at night to give his family a better life, and she followed that example. Working five nights a week till close at a Buffalo pizza shop, then babysitting on the weekends. Her paychecks didn’t go to fluff. They went to family, college savings, and dinner out once a year. Those are the values. That is the work ethic Kathy Hochul was raised with.

But they didn’t stay in Buffalo. They came with her, and they guide her every single day as governor. It’s why she’s cut middle-class taxes to their lowest rate in 70 years, tripled the child tax credit, and sent out inflation reduction checks to 8 million New Yorkers. On her watch, long-stalled housing projects are rising from the ground. The Governor has gotten cell phones out of our classrooms and free meals into our schools, so our kids can be full and focused.  She’s made universal child care a top priority because she never forgot what it felt like as a young mom fresh out of law school who had to leave her job because child care was unaffordable.

New York is safer under Governor Hochul, too; she’s cracked down on illegal guns and expanded mental health care. Now across the Empire State, from the subways to the suburbs, crime is down. She’s pushing back hard against ICE, holding them accountable when they go too far, which they have. And at a time when so many others are choosing silence over courage and backing down, Kathy Hochul is standing up to Donald Trump.

HOCHUL: I’m here to say New York hasn’t labored under a king in over 250 years. We sure as hell are not going to start now!

NARRATOR: This isn’t politics. It’s how she was raised, where she comes from, and who she is. Kathy Hochul isn’t just meeting the moment. She’s leading it.

HOCHUL: Your family is my fight. And I’ll never, ever stop fighting for the great State of New York.

“Show Up”:

NARRATOR: New York is built by people who show up every day without fanfare. They raise families, they go to work and church, they look out for their neighbors, and stand up to bullies. That’s the New York she comes from.

Adrienne Adams. Her parents both worked union jobs, and raised her in a community where neighbors were family and responsibility didn’t stop at your front door. Her career didn’t start in politics. She cut her teeth and climbed the ladder in corporate America until it hit her: purpose isn’t always found in titles. It’s found in service.

So she ran for office and won. The first woman ever elected to represent Southeast Queens 28th District. The Great 28th. And when she got to Council, her colleagues quickly saw what her community already knew: Adrienne Adams is a force of nature.

And again, she made history. Her colleagues elected her to be Speaker of the New York City Council, a post earned through trust, respect, and leadership. And lead she has. Standing up for universal pre-K and New York public libraries. Protecting black and brown mothers by passing laws to make childbirth safer. Helping deliver more affordable housing. And she led the City Council in suing and blocking President Trump from putting ICE on Rikers.

New York is built by people who show up day in and day out, and that’s the kind of leader you deserve, and it’s why Governor Hochul is choosing her as a partner to fight for our families, bring down prices for New Yorkers, and keep everyone safe.

Adrienne Adams, your next Lieutenant Governor.
