More Additions to the Brown & Weinraub Team
For the second time in a month, Brown & Weinraub is pleased to announce additions to its team and enhancements to client services, particularly in the areas of procurement diversity and green energy development.
Brian Matthews brings to the firm more than 30 years of experience in New York State Government throughout which he managed financial transactions and contracting with a special interest in Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs) as well as Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOB). Most recently, Brian served as Chief Financial Officer for the Office of General Services (OGS) – the primary NYS government procurement entity – with responsibilities including energy, insurance and fleet procurement for NYS in addition to ensuring sound financial management of the agency and its contracts. Brian similarly managed the budgetary affairs and contracts, including MWBE contracting, at the Office of the New York State Comptroller where he was Director of the Bureau of Financial Administration. Holding an MPA from the Rockefeller School of Public Affairs & Policy at the University at Albany, Brian started his career in public service at the NYS Division of Budget and looks forward to helping Brown & Weinraub clients exceed MWBE requirements for state contracts.
Maryann McCarthy spent the last decade at the forefront of the energy debate as the Associate Director of the American Petroleum Institute in New York where she also managed state and NYC government relations. Well versed in Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), the Transportation Climate Initiative (TCI), the low carbon fuel standard, biofuels and natural gas infrastructure, Maryann is poised to assist Brown & Weinraub clients in identifying opportunities and advancing sustainable technology in the green economy. She has deployed her considerable coalition building talents to educate the public about energy infrastructure needs, and crisis management skills to help the Governor’s Office and Division of Homeland Security ensure supply chain preparedness in response to Hurricane Sandy. Maryann is a member of Lean in Energy, a global non-profit devoted to mentoring in the energy sector and disrupting the gender gap in energy and has vast experience as a contract lobbyist. She is a graduate of Albany Law School.
