Climate Week NYC: Key Themes and Takeaways

Climate Week NYC is one of the largest global gatherings on climate action, bringing together leaders from business, government, labor, and advocacy to chart the path forward on energy and sustainability.

This year, I had the opportunity to attend over half a dozen different events that covered everything from sustainability to grid innovation, the buildout of new renewables, and decarbonization efforts for new and existing buildings.

The conversations this year centered on three broad themes: innovation, collaboration, and commitment to continue the work of addressing climate change.

  • Innovation: From decarbonization and grid modernization to the buildout of new renewables, discussions highlighted the technological and policy solutions needed to meet growing energy demand while addressing affordability and reducing emissions.
  • Collaboration: No single sector can meet the scale of today’s climate challenges alone. Partnerships between industry, government, advocates, and labor are essential to driving meaningful change.
  • Commitment: States, cities, nongovernmental organizations, and industry will continue the work of addressing climate change via their sustainability, resiliency, and decarbonization efforts.

The spirit of Climate Week was one of urgency, but also of hope. By linking innovation with collaboration and committing to continue the work, we have the power to turn today’s climate goals into tomorrow’s reality.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Every month, we’ll be sharing our highly recommended reads, shows, and exhibits, new and old.

House of Guinness

“Netflix’s House of Guinness is a new period drama that dives into 19th-century Dublin following the death of brewing giant Benjamin Guinness, as his four children clash over power, politics, and legacy. The series pairs striking visuals and moody cinematography with a modern Irish soundtrack, giving the story a bold and contemporary edge. Strong performances throughout bring intensity, even as the show takes creative liberties with history and leans into melodrama. For those who enjoy sweeping family sagas with high drama and striking style, coupled with an intriguing historical storyline, House of Guinness is an easy recommendation.”
