Anzala Alozie and Heidi Knoblauch to be honored; Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Attorney General Tish James to join live-streamed celebration.

New York, NY –A Celebration to kick off the 2021 Saratoga Summer Season: Eleanor’s Legacy will host #NYWomen Lead Capital Region, a live stream celebration of New York women leaders of the Capital Region on July 25.

During the event, Eleanor’s Legacy will honor Heidi Knoblauch, owner of Plum Oyster Bar and manager of venture and growth banking at Pioneer Bank, and Anzala Alozie, Executive Director, Youth Development, Capital District YMCA, with the “Capital Region Women Making a Difference” award.

“This summer, with local offices on the ballot, we want to celebrate local women leaders making a difference. We take our inspiration from Eleanor Roosevelt, who never ran for office but made a tremendous difference in the lives of women and girls on the local, state, and global level. Just like Mrs. Roosevelt, Anzala Alozie and Heidi Knoblauch understand that “democracy is not about words, but action,”” said Brette McSweeney, President of Eleanor’s Legacy.

Founded in 2001 by Judith Hope, the first woman to chair the New York State Democratic Committee, Eleanor’s Legacy recruits, trains, and funds pro-choice Democratic women running for office at the state and local office across New York State.

The July 25 live-streamed event will include performances by artists Catherine Landeta and Lisa Ramey. Special guest speakers will include Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Attorney General Tish James.   Funds raised will support women running for office throughout New York State who are endorsed by Eleanor’s Legacy.

The event will premiere on July 25, 2021, at 11am. More details can be found at https://www.eleanorslegacy.com/events/july25, or contact Eleanor’s Legacy Board Member Joanne Dittes Yepsen; [email protected]
