Community Pharmacists Hail One-Month Anniversary of Patient-Centered Care Being Returned to All New Yorkers in Medicaid
Calls the Transition to Pharmacy Choice and Access “Smooth”
Albany, NY – The Community Pharmacy Association of New York State (CPANYS) – representing community pharmacies of all sizes in every county across the State, which fought for more patient choice and access to pharmacy services in the State Medicaid program – today hailed the one-month anniversary of patient-centered care being returned to all New Yorkers in the Medicaid program and issued the following statement:
“By taking the middleman out of the Medicaid pharmacy program, Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York legislature enabled state funding to go to actual patient care and services. This transition has led to expanded patient access to pharmacy care for patients, including patient choice of pharmacy and broader access to the medicines patients need. The program is working very well following a smooth transition on April 1st and every day the nearly eight million New Yorkers in the Medicaid program are reaping the benefits of NYRx.” – Mike Duteau, president of the Community Pharmacy Association of New York State
