CLEAR, 9/11 Memorial & Museum Partner to Help Protect Public Health
“Health Pass” Pilot Will Create Safer Environment as Memorial Reopens to Public
and Employees Return to Work
(New York) CLEAR, the secure biometric identity platform, and the 9/11 Museum & Memorial announced today a partnership to help keep employees and the community safe as part of the reopening of the 9/11 Memorial. With the reopening of the Memorial beginning on July 4th, 450 employees and contractors will use “Health Pass by CLEAR” at the 8-acre sacred site as part of the health screening process.
“Health Pass by CLEAR” is a new mobile tool that seamlessly and securely connects a person’s identity to multiple layers of Covid-related insights to help reduce public health risk and restore peace of mind. Beginning with a real-time health quiz, Health Pass will eventually link with trusted lab partners to connect test results and with CLEAR’s thermal hardware for temperature checks.
“CLEAR’s secure biometric technology platform was a post-9/11 innovation designed to help restore security and confidence to millions of air travelers. Now, as Americans seek to reclaim some semblance of their lifestyles and routines, we couldn’t be more humbled to partner with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum to help their employees return to work and ensure that these grounds can be safely reopened to the public,” said CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman-Becker.
“Our number one priority as we reopen is to provide a safe and healthy environment to our visitors and employees as we continue to fulfill our mission,” 9/11 Memorial & Museum Senior Vice President of Communications Kate Monaghan Connolly said. “Partnering with Health Pass by CLEAR, an innovative and dynamic platform, to help employees return to work is the first step towards that goal. We are confident that our work together will assist in ensuring a seamless reopening.”
The partnership begins as a three-month pilot at no-cost to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and was designed with flexibility as the institution’s reopening process evolves over time. The accompanying 9/11 Memorial Museum, which houses exhibitions and artifacts, remains closed at the time but plans to reopen are underway.

- Connect: Beginning later in July, link relevant Covid-related insights, such as test results, through one of CLEAR’s trusted lab partners.
- Verify Identity: Before you enter a building or venue, open the CLEAR app and snap a selfie to prove you are you.
- On-Site Touchless Access: Approach a CLEAR pod where you can use your face or a QR code to share your verified status and check your temperature to gain touchless access.
