Albany: Protect Local Businesses and Jobs

By New Yorkers for Local Businesses (NYLB) | June 2, 2025

Just 24% of New Yorkers say the state is headed in the right direction. 80% are very concerned about rising food prices. 74% worry about what rising prices are doing to our local small businesses. In the final weeks of the legislative session, we are asking Albany to focus on the issues voters care about most: bills that would help make New York a safer, more affordable place to live, work, and do business.

New Yorkers for Local Businesses (NYLB) and our statewide coalition are working to make New York more affordable and to grow local businesses. We are grateful that Speaker Heastie, Gov. Hochul and Leader Stewart-Cousins solved the unemployment insurance debt crisis that has been holding back businesses and workers for years. But the state’s substantial investment should not be in vain. Hard-earned progress is at risk if bills open a floodgate to frivolous lawsuits and needless red tape that harm New York businesses and put jobs at risk. During a time of economic uncertainty, we ask Albany to continue to stand up to keep prices down. Learn more about NYLB’s legislative agenda and join our commonsense coalition today.
