New Senior Vice President Brings Communications Experience, Adds to Expanding Reach in Latino community

New York, New York (August 15, 2022) – Actum LLC, the fastest growing public strategy firm in the United States, today announced Wanda Silva has joined as a Senior Vice President.

Silva is an Emmy Award-winning former journalist who spent more than 15 years as an on-air reporter and producer for Univision and Telemundo in the New York metro area, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Albuquerque. She later went on to serve as Press Secretary for Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., now a Co-Chair of Actum, as Director of Media Operations for NJMVC, where she led a successful campaign to help undocumented New Jersey residents obtain driver’s licenses. Most recently, Silva worked at Mair Strategies LLC., working on campaigns in health, education, government, antitrust, and transportation.

Her deep background with the Latino community and media landscape will be a major asset to Actum. Since launching in January, the company has put a strong focus on recruiting the best talent capable of uplifting Black and Brown voices and organizations.

“I’m excited to join Actum and hit the ground running. This firm has emerged as a global force that drives results for its clients. Joining Actum’s team means I will bring my experience and connections to the table to help elevate the voices of people of all colors and cultural backgrounds alongside our dynamic group of like-minded, top-notch leaders. It doesn’t get better than that!” said Wanda Silva.

“Wanda Silva’s work in journalism and communications speaks for itself. She is a valuable addition to the Actum team who will help expand our work in the Latino community. Her decision to join Actum speaks to strength of the Black and Brown practice we continue to build out,” said Rachel Noerdlinger, Partner at Actum.

“Wanda Silva is exactly the kind of talent we have sought to bring to Actum. Her experiences as a reporter and communicator, particularly in Spanish-language media, will be a major asset to the team we’ve built here in New York. We’re so excited to have Wanda on board,” said Michael McKeon, Partner at Actum.

“Actum is a new kind of firm that rethinks how we empower our clients. The top talent in the world has begun to take note, as evidenced by Wanda Silva’s decision to join our New York team. We welcome her to Actum and know she will be a valuable member of our team across the globe,” said Fabian Núñez, Managing Partner at Actum.

“Wanda Silva is one of the best in the business. I cannot wait to be reunited with her at Actum, where I know we will continue our work to empower the Latino community. She has the experience, the connections, and the drive to help this quickly growing company take it to the next level,” said Ruben Diaz, Jr., Co-Chair of Actum.

About Wanda Silva
Wanda Silva is a multiple Emmy award-winning journalist with a lifetime of passion, advocacy, and involvement with the Latino community. For over 15 years, Wanda was an on-air television reporter and producer for Univision and Telemundo in NY/NJ, LA, Dallas, and Albuquerque. Throughout her career, she’s been instrumental in advocating, educating, informing the community, and spotlighting essential issues. More recently, she was a VP with Mair Strategies LLC., working on campaigns in health, education, government, antitrust, and transportation.

Before joining Mair Strategies, Wanda served as Director of Media Operations for NJMVC, where she led a successful Driver’s License for All campaign to help undocumented residents obtain driver’s licenses. She educated the community and collaborated with statewide organizations to prepare residents before the law was implemented. Her work earned NJMVC the 2022 AAMVA Award for a series of virtual community educational sessions on how residents, regardless of immigration status, could obtain a standard New Jersey driver’s license.

Wanda also served as Press Secretary for Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. She worked closely with various print, broadcast, and digital media to disseminate the Borough President’s message throughout local, regional, and international communities.

Wanda’s extensive media background focused on top U.S. Hispanic markets.

Wanda was an executive producer for programs and talent development for Q Television Network, based in Los Angeles. She also served as an anchor and reporter for Telemundo in Dallas, Texas, Univision in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Univision in New York (tri-state area).

Serving the community has always driven Wanda. She was nominated to the Board of Directors of the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in 2021. She was born in Puerto Rico and divided her upbringing between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, as she usually says, “with one foot on each island.”

Wanda is also a painter. Her artwork is the product of everyday inspiration found in the ever-changing social and political events that have shaped her life, environment, mission, and vision. The bold, bright colors in her paintings reflect those found in the magas and palm trees abundant in her birthplace of San Juan and throughout Puerto Rico.

Wanda graduated from SUNY at Old Westbury, Long Island, with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Journalism. Wanda lives in Edgewater, New Jersey, with her wife Pam and dog Vida.
