AARP Hails Expansion of Vaccine Availability to All NYers 50 and Over

By AARP NY | March 22, 2021

ALBANY, N.Y. – AARP New York State Director Beth Finkel issued the following statement on New York State’s decision to expand eligibility for COVID-19 vaccines to all New Yorkers 50 and over:

“AARP New York hails the decision by Governor Cuomo to expand eligibility for COVID-19 vaccines to all New Yorkers 50 and over.

“The facts support this move; more than 95% of all COVID-19 deaths in New York have occurred among people 50 and over.

“We understand the State’s distribution of vaccines to this point, but we have urged from the start that the 50-plus be prioritized. The science has clearly shown that the older people are, the higher risk they face if they contract COVID-19.”
