IPPNY Statement on the New York State Energy Plan
Albany, NY – The Independent Power Producers of New York (IPPNY) supports the spirit of the State Energy Plan in progressing towards New York’s clean energy future. Today, IPPNY submitted comments on the draft Plan, calling for a balanced and realistic approach to achieving the State’s clean energy goals.
IPPNY President and CEO Gavin J. Donohue said: “A Plan without steps towards achieving it is impractical. Before the Plan is adopted, there needs to be a clear understanding of the steps ahead, including specific timelines for necessary actions. Electric reliability and affordability are paramount for all New Yorkers as we move towards the State’s energy mandates. While the draft Plan pushes the state in the right direction, the necessary mix of resources through competitive markets must be ensured to keep New York moving forward.”
