
Catholic Charities Elects Officers, Albany CC CEO elected to National Board of Directors
ALBANY, NY – Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany CEO Sr. Betsy Van Deusen, CSJ, who oversees one of the Capital Region’s largest private, non-profit social service agencies, has been elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA).
CCUSA is a national membership organization that supports and represents 168 Catholic Charities agencies across the United States. Sr. Betsy was elected at the June 25 CCUSA Board meeting.
“Election to CCUSA’s board is a tremendous honor and a credit to the excellent work of our team of employees and countless volunteers who live our Catholic mission to support the most vulnerable in our communities,” Sr. Betsy said.
Also, the Albany Catholic Charities board on June 25 elected Robert J. Bellafiore as Board President, Todd C. Curley as Vice President, Christine Cary as Secretary and Matthew Young as Treasurer. Each will serve a one-year term in this officer’s role.
Mr. Bellafiore said: “Catholic Charities is such a force for good in countless ways that provide real help for people in need. I’m honored to serve with such smart, generous and caring volunteers on the Board and look forward to working more closely with Sr. Betsy in helping this historic organization fulfill its mission.”
Mr. Bellafiore is Founder and President of Stanhope Partners, a public affairs and communications strategy firm, and has served on the Catholic Charities board since 2019.
Mr. Curley is Partner at the Prime Companies and has served on the board since 2016.
Ms. Cary served in leadership positions with the senior community prior to her retirement and has served on the board since 2021.
Mr. Young is Co-Managing Member at Bond, Schoeneck and King Attorneys and has served on the board since 2023
