Sources close to Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro have confirmed to Empire Report that he braved today’s snowstorm to meet with Republican county leaders in Saratoga Springs. Should Molinaro win today’s straw poll, he will enter the race for the Republican nomination for Governor.
Some New York Republicans have expressed displeasure with the current field of candidates to challenge Governor Andrew Cuomo. According to recent polls, Governor Cuomo enjoys broad popularity but may be vulnerable to a credible challenge if corruption trials of former associates erode his support.
Other announced candidates include State Senator John DeFrancisco and former Governor Pataki aide Joseph Holland.

Today at the NYS GOP Senate Convention a straw poll was conducted. 83 votes were tallied. The results are as follows: Marcus Molinaro – 55 John DeFrancisco – 23 Joe Holland – 5 We look forward to our convention in May!
